Villa Sciara is spread over three elevations. On the ground floor, with access from the outside, there are two double bedrooms en suite (if a couple prefers to sleep with their children, instead of a separate bedroom, there is a double sofa bed for children in the larger bedroom on the ground floor). The heart of the residence is the first floor: the living room is very bright and elegant in its minimalist style, the modern, luxurious kitchen preserves the Sicilian construction tradition of the wood-burning cooker and the very pretty oven. Along the corridor there is a cosy double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower and bathtub, and a twin bedroom, which can be converted into a double, and which also has a bathroom with shower and a WC. Essential and harmonious furnishings, soft colours that blend well with the antique, typically Sicilian floors and the white walls. The loft is refined in its simplicity and elegance: a double bedroom en-suite with a bathroom with shower.

Sciara offers plenty of space to relax and simply enjoy being together. The elegantly furnished terraces look out over a living scented garden and a spectacular landscape.

The villa is located in the Etna National Park, with its rich, fertile soil and vineyards, olive groves, fruit and nut orchards and forests of oak, larch and chestnut trees. For nature lovers, a series of gentle paths that ascend the volcano are just minutes from the villa. Be prepared to be amazed too by other local Sicilian treasures, including Taormina, Catania, Syracuse and the splendid Ionian coast.

Morgantina is an ancient Roman and Greek city, an archaeological site in the territory of Aidone, an Italian town in the province of Enna in Sicily. The city was brought to light in the fall of 1955 by the archaeological mission of the University of Princeton.  The most easily accessible area belongs to the period that goes back from the middle of the V to the end of the 1st century BC, the period of the greatest splendor of the city.

From this site come very important archaeological finds such as the Venus of Morgantina, currently housed at the archaeological museum of Aidone which came on March 17, 2011 after the dispute between Italy and the United States where it was exhibited at the Getty Museum in Malibu, and the Treasure of Morgantina, also returned.

The accommodation lies on the ground floor of the villa, a 120sqm-wide apartment that just shares the entrance and the parking with the upper floor. Privacy is complete in this beautiful and refined historic villa that can accommodate up to 4 guests within a very comfortable and wide space. The recent renovation (completed during May 2013) has preserved the Sicilian traditional character of this mansion – majolica tiles, terracotta pavements, fresh and bright spaces, ancient and very refined furniture- without giving up on all the modern comforts required, from plasma SAT TV to top-quality kitchen supplies.

Outside, the sight is just stunning. A private outside pergola (just for guests), tastefully furnished with outdoor tables and chairs, will be perfect for starting your day at its best with a delicious breakfast with fresh-baked croissants, staring at the beautiful sea right in front of you. There is also a BBQ area that will let you enjoy plenty of open-air dinners with fresh products from the fish markets nearby, as well as a sun-bathing area within the impeccable English garden: the panorama here is really wonderful, especially with the thousands of shades of the colors during sunrise and sunset. And then, you just have to turn your head around to discover the majestic Mt. Etna, the active volcano that has recently been declared UNESCO world heritage, with the green forests of the Etna Park.

Inside, the living area still preserves the refined peculiar traits of the ancient house: vaults, precious pavements and exposed-stone walls. The organization of the inside spaces is really clever and practical. Spaces are wide and luminous: the living area with its beautiful vaults and refined furniture and details (including typical Sicilian ceramics) opens onto the pergola, and is located right in front of the dining area, tastefully furnished with prestigious ancient chairs, table and cupboard. The kitchen is fully equipped and embellished by Sicilian majolica, and bedrooms are cosy and spacious.

Direct access to the sea is granted by a very practical wooden platform that will take you to a rocky area and a transparent light blue sea: the best for a day swimming, or for discovering the underwater wonders if you are into scuba diving! And remember that everything you need – markets, restaurants and so on – is just 200 meters far in the lovely hamlet of Torre Archirafi.
